About

Patricia Hart, Ph.D.

Clinical psychologist in North Berkeley

I am a clinical psychologist with more than 40 years of experience working with individuals, couples and families. My approach is relational, interactive and collaborative. I work actively with you, paying close attention not only to what you tell me, but to the feelings, patterns and ways of relating that emerge in the therapy itself.

I have completed the highest level of PACT training, have worked for seven years as senior PACT faculty and clinical editor and remain actively involved in ongoing professional training and consultation.

I bring more than 25 years of specialized experience working with divorce and its aftermath. My work in this area began as a senior clinician with the Judy Wallerstein Center for the Family in Transition and has included work as a custody evaluator and special master, professional training and consultation, and extensive clinical work with divorcing and remarried families. I was also an active member of the Judy Wallerstein Center for Research on the Family in Transition for twenty years.

I bring many years of clinical experience with divorce, remarriage and stepfamily life, as well as a particular professional interest in the experience of stepmothers. I am the author of “On Becoming a Good Enough Stepmother,” and I also bring the perspective of having built a stepfamily myself.
